Seattle Lobbyist Disclosure People who are paid for lobbying Seattle city government will soon be required to disclose certain information about their lobbying activities. The City Council passed an ordinance requiring this disclosure on March 17, 2008. The Mayor signed it into law on March 21, 2008. Among other things, the new law will require lobbyists to disclose the names of those people or groups on whose behalf they are lobbying and also how much they are paid for such lobbying. The law will go into effect when the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission adopts rules implementing the law. The SEEC has until September 17, 2008 to adopt rules. If you would like to be kept informed about this rulemaking process please send an email to . |
